With nearly 800 high-quality business visitors attending the inaugural ChemExpo Africa exhibition in 2013, organisers Quartz Chemicals Ltd have received encouraging feedback from those who participated and are planning to create a larger and more extensive event next year. International business consulting firm Frost & Sullivan have confirmed they will be producing free seminar content for visitors again and are expected to be joined by other international companies to create a comprehensive and free-to-attend conference programme and range of networking opportunities on the exhibition floor.
The level of international exhibitors in 2013 was seen as very positive amongst visitors, who were looking for new suppliers, products and solutions. With 82 exhibitors from all over the world including pavilions from the USA, China and India, as well as large blue chip participants such as Clariant, Buckman and Protea, a clear need for a dedicated chemical exhibition in South Africa has been established.Chemexpo Africa 2013
Steve Diprose, Vice President, Quartz Chemicals Ltd said ‘we are committed to developing a long-standing presence in South Africa, where we have found a real need and enthusiasm for a dedicated chemicals exhibition. We will be working hard with exhibitors and event partners to make sure that the event is an even larger success for all involved, as we aim to double the size of the event in 2014.
‘One element that we are keen to repeat is the ‘Chemistry is Cool’ initiative held with Buckman Ltd, which saw 130 school children participate in a number of exciting chemical experiments in an effort to engage with the grass roots of chemistry in South Africa’.

India’s specialty chemicals sector has become one of the fastest-growing parts of the overall chemical industry. With rising global demand, supply chain diversification, and a move away from traditional manufacturing hubs, India has established itself as a dependable and competitive option. Government policies are also helping the sector grow. Initiatives like Make in India, production-linked incentive schemes have encouraged both Indian and foreign players to manufacture in India. Recent FTA’s negotiations have given significant impetus to India exports to specialty chemicals especially to North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Government support and policy actions were widely seen as crucial for industry growth. The role of production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes, reforms to make business easier, and investments in industrial infrastructure were recognized as key factors. Meanwhile, industry leaders called for clearer regulations, quicker approvals, and stronger cooperation between all stakeholders to keep the momentum going.
The India Specialty Chemicals Conclave 2026 is an important event in the ongoing growth of the country’s chemical industry. The Conclave will stress the need for innovation, export led growth, use of new age chemicals in sunrise sectors, safety standards for process improvement with energy-efficient & sustainable practices.
The 4th Rosefield Conference on Circular Economy in Used Oil (2025) marked a turning point for India’s used oil ecosystem. Held in New Delhi, the conference brought together lubricant producers,
re-refiners, OEMs, regulators, and sustainability leaders as EPR shifted from policy intent to regulatory reality.
With EPR targets now in force, discussions focused on operationalising circularity at scale—addressing gaps in collection, traceability, RRBO quality, technology, and informal diversion. A clear
consensus emerged: compliance alone is not enough. True circularity requires coordinated action across reverse logistics, re-refining infrastructure, market acceptance of RRBO, and digitally enabled
EPR systems.
With participation from 100+ companies and strong regulatory presence, Rosefield CE2025 moved the dialogue decisively from why circularity matters to how it can be delivered.
